There are so much couples dying hard to have babies. They have tried all kinds of methods to conceive a baby. But do you know that there are about 6.1 million people affected by infertility problems. This figure is tabulated according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Of this number, almost 40% of the infertility issues are due to men and another 40% of it are due to women. The remaining 20% are related to unknown causes.
Besides having the general cause of women infertility, there are other specific causes such as ovarian and ovulation problems, tube or peritoneal causes, hypothalamic-pituitary causes, cervical, vaginal and uterine problems. Once these causes are made known, the chances of fertility will rise.
Internal causes affecting infertility.
Women suffering from diabetes, thyroid or any other defects of the livers and kidneys are factors that are causing infertility to many modern women. Besides that, women should take note on the psychological or mental issues that are causing infertility to them. Another cause of infertility is women having ovulation disorder, it is either they are not ovaluating at all, or they may ovulate irregularly compared to the normal ovulation during the 28-day cycle.
There are other causes affected the ovaries. Factors such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian neoplasm, diminished ovarian reserve, luteal dysfunction, premature menopauses, and Turner syndrome are among the common causes of infertility to women. These disorders actually prevents the release of a egg from the ovaries. Factors such as tube or peritoneal factors also can be a cause of infertility among women. Endometriosis growing outside may prevents an egg from traveling to the uterus.
Hypothalamic-pituitary factors, that include the common hypopituitarism, hyperprolactinemia, kallmann syndrome and other hypothalamic dysfunctions are the common causes of women infertility.
There are many internal issues leading to an infertility to most women. Specifically, cervical, vaginal and uterine problems are the common cause of that. The structure of the uterus, uterine fibroids that are causing congenital anomalies (birth defects) and repeated miscarriages, or/and Asherman’s syndrome is among the causes of infertility.
The problem from the vaginal would include the obstruction preventing sperms from traveling to the tubes and vaginismus. Whereas, the cervical problems would include the side effects of anti-sperm antibodies, insufficient cervical mucus which is needed for the sperm to travel and survive. Another reason for infertility which may be genetic, would be androgen insensitivity syndrome, fibroids, and various other conditions.
