Reduce Acne Breakouts By Prevention
-
For most people, especially teens that are more prone to acne outbreaks, the best solution to the problem is a good acne prevention program. While some may believe that acne is only a part of growing up and the hormone fluctuations that are also blamed for teen angst, are part of the problem and there is nothing that can be done. However, if people consider that the skin is the body’s largest living organ they can recognize that if they take good care of their skin, it will be nice to them.
Before a person can embark on an acne prevention program, they have to understand how acne forms and as each person is different, the causes of their acne outbreaks will be different. Some of the causes of acne include genetics, hormones, stress, the accumulation of dead skin cells and overactive sebaceous glands. Additionally, acne prevention programs also include eliminating bacteria in the pores, avoiding skin lesions and not using anabolic steroids.
Generally, follicles push hair through the skin in a tunnel, which the sebaceous glands lubricate the sebum. Whenever the tunnel becomes blocked, a lump forms under the skin, which then collects bacteria, resulting in acne. Therefore, prevention should include a way in which pores are kept open and kills off the bacteria before it has a chance to even grow.
For most people that suffer acne outbreaks, once the blackheads and pimples appear on the skin, it can take several days and even weeks to get rid of the unsightly blemishes. By using an appropriate acne prevention routine, they can limit the frequency and duration of the outbreaks. Keeping the skin clean and free of dead skin cells is probably the most important aspect of acne prevention they can use.
Benzoyl peroxide is a commonly used bactericide to treat acne. However, it recommended that you don’t use it as part of your acne prevention program. A vital part of the program is to keep the pores open and the skin clear. Products which contain chemicals to kill the bacteria should only be used once the blemish has appeared. This is because prolonged use will dry out the skin causing additional skin problems.
It is extremely important that you wash your face at least twice daily, with a non-perfumed soap. Although blackheads appear to be dirt in the pores, they are actually bacteria forming in the pores. The bacteria can be easily eliminated by washing your face and removing the dead skin cells.
