The Different Classifications of Acne Explained
-
Most teens and young adults have most likely gone through the stressing times that result from acne. But in order to help one’s self with the dreaded prospect of acne, a certain amount of knowledge is required to accurately implement an acne-fighting regime each day. Doing so will help fight current breakouts, and prevent new breakouts from ever occurring. The Different Types Of Acne
One of the most prevalent forms of acne is the blackhead. A blackhead is created when a pore on one’s face is partially blocked. Because it is only partially blocked, the pore will excrement oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells. It should be noted that the black dot is from a reaction of oxygen with the skin- this is not dirt or a sign of one’s poor hygiene. Blackheads will, on average, last longer than whiteheads.
Like the blackhead, the whitehead is also rather small in size. This type of acne differs from blackheads in the simple fact that they are completely blocked pores. The resulting bacteria and oil that is trapped under the skin creates a white look to the tip. This type of acne is generally less likely to be active on one’s face long, as compared to blackheads.
Papules are another type of acne that doesn’t contain a head. These afflictions are generally just red marks that are usually quite large in size. These inflammations are very sensitive and usually painful. One should never try to squeeze a papule, as there is nothing to excrement and there will be no good in doing so. Further infection often results from tampering with a papule.
Pustules share qualities of both whiteheads and papules. Pustules will have the white head of a whitehead and also carry the red inflammation and swelling that papules have. Like papules, pustules can easily result in scarring and infection if they are tampered with. Because of this, it is recommended that you do not squeeze or drain pustules unless absolutely necessary.
Acne Types And Tips For Solutions
For whiteheads and blackheads, it is generally not advised to further inflame or bother the affected area. These smaller lesions on the skin generally go away by themselves without much harm. Whiteheads are generally more noticeable, however, and proper care should be taken if trying to tamper with them.
When it comes to pustules and papules, there can be relief by simply getting a cortisone shot. This will help reduce swelling and inflammation that characterizes these types of acne. Try not to tamper with either type of acne, especially papules, as further infection will result.
When trying to cure one’s self of a whitehead or pustule, be sure to do so in a very clean manner. Do not force the acne to excrement the white or yellow middle- and be sure to take care if this procedure must take place. Knowing these basic four types of acne and how to get rid of them will better arm you with knowledge in which to fight one’s acne with- and have clearer skin as a result.
